Sri Lanka Program

Sri Lanka is a small teardrop-shaped island of 65,000 square kilometers just off the southern tip of India in the Indian Ocean. Despite its size, the country has a wide range of geographical features and is rich in natural beauty. Large parts of Sri Lanka are covered in tropical forests, with hundreds of rivers flowing through them, often cascading in awesome waterfalls. It’s easy to go on and on about the natural beauty of Sri Lanka. There is no nation, from the Egypt of the pharaohs to modern-day Britain, in whose literature this island has not at some time been mentioned by one or other of its many names, like Lanka, Serendib, Taprobane, Cellao, Zellan, to recall a few. History lies buried in its sands, and ghosts of romance lurk among its bastioned rocks, for Lanka is very, very old.

Volunteering Activity offers volunteers a rare chance to enjoy this unique nation. You'll warmly get associated with the affectionate and ever welcoming people. Furthermore, you will have plenty of opportunities to work to improve the lives of Sri Lanka's poor people. Get a chance to learn about the nation's unique Buddhist culture while volunteering in programs for teaching English to monks and helping orphan elephants.
